Integrated offshore and onshore laboratories
Seamless laboratory workflows supporting geotechnical investigations from sample recovery to advanced testing and reporting.
Integrated onshore and offshore laboratory capability supporting safe, efficient and informed offshore development.

Geoquip Marine’s UKAS-accredited onshore geotechnical laboratory in Bristol provides high-quality, reliable testing to support offshore energy and infrastructure projects. Since 2021, significant investment has been made in state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and specialist personnel, enabling accurate, repeatable results delivered to internationally recognised standards. Further information on our laboratory capabilities, equipment and testing systems is available in the Geotechnical Laboratory brochure.
Our onshore laboratory plays a critical role in supporting offshore operations, providing advanced soil and rock testing, detailed analysis and rapid turnaround of results to inform engineering decisions and reduce project risk.
Soil classification and index testing
Advanced soil mechanical testing (triaxial, shear, consolidation)
Cyclic and dynamic soil testing
Rock strength, deformation and durability testing
Thermal and electrical property testing
UKAS-accredited testing to ISO, ASTM and BS standards

Geoquip Marine also operates fully equipped offshore laboratories aboard its geotechnical investigation vessels, enabling rapid sample processing and testing directly during offshore campaigns.
Onboard laboratory capability allows geotechnical engineers to review results in near real time, supporting operational decisions and optimising investigation programmes while offshore. This integrated approach improves efficiency, enhances data quality and reduces project timelines.
Offshore laboratory activities typically include sample preparation, classification testing and preliminary analysis, ensuring that high-quality samples are preserved and assessed immediately following recovery.
Our laboratory is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), providing assurance that all procedures follow documented standards, equipment is maintained and calibrated, samples are handled with care, and testing is carried out by trained and competent staff. Regular independent audits ensure ongoing compliance and data integrity.
