During offshore site investigation operations for the Bowdun Offshore Wind Farm, the crew of the Njord Survey vessel Northern Breeze responded to a UK Coastguard distress call for a nearby vessel that had lost power in shallow water and was at risk of running aground.
Upon overhearing the broadcast, the Northern Breeze team made contact with both the Coastguard and the vessel in distress and offered assistance. They paused their contracted nearshore geophysical survey work to attend the scene, successfully towing the vessel to safety before escorting it to the port of Gourdon. The Northern Breeze then returned to site and recommenced operations.
Throughout the incident, Geoquip Marine maintained clear communication with the project team, keeping all parties informed at every stage.

The Northern Breeze is currently supporting nearshore geophysical investigations at the Bowdun Offshore Wind Farm landfall area as part of Geoquip Marine’s wider site investigation programme, in which Geoquip is acting as Principal Contractor across offshore, nearshore and landfall activities. The response was recognised positively by both Geoquip Marine and the client team.
